On 29th of September, 2005, H. E. Mr. Cheng Wenju, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China held a grand reception in celebration of the National Day of China, i.e. the 56th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Over 200 distinguished guests including Hon. Solomon Berewa, Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, over ten cabinet ministers, Chief Justice, Chairman of the ruling party, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the Chinese enterprises and overseas nationals attended the reception. Ambassador Cheng in his speech reviewed the accomplishments of China’s development over the past year and the fruitful achievements of the friendly cooperation between China and Sierra Leone. Hon. Lamin Karama, acting minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on behalf of H. E. Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, extended warm congratulations on the Chinese Nation Day, expressed deep appreciation for China’s precious assistance, and reaffirmed the steadfast adherence of Sierra Leone to the principle of “one China”, of which Taiwan is a integral part. |
